Emergence From shared experience to new creativity.

Living Heritage/Reframing Memory

Funded by the Creative Europe Programme of the European Union

The project is focused on performance design in the context of our European heritage, and will bring together a range of “performance creators” to design work that responds to the specific contexts of selected heritage sites, undertaking a program of workshops, masterclasses, artist residencies, site specific performances and exhibitions. This work minds the collective cultural memory of the heritage sites to create powerful audience experiences, showing the heritage in an evolving process of constant re-negotiation of connectivity and relationships in today’s globalized world. The project will also support a development of the next generation of performance creators as the activities are specifically designed to connect young artists with established professionals whilst placing emerging artists at the centre of the work.

Project’s participants will experience atmosphere of places with “porous borders” – from the city of Nicosia divided by a militarized border, through thin frontier zone in-between Ukraine and Russia, to problematic Brexit.

Partner Organizations:

Arts & Theatre Institute / Prague Quadrennial (Czech Republic), The Victoria & Albert Museum (United Kingdom), IZOLYATSIA (Ukraine), Institut Teatralny (Poland), Cyprus Theatre Organisation/THOC (Cyprus), Norwegian Theatre Academy/Østfold University College (Norway), New Theatre Institute of Latvia (Latvia), and National Kaohsiung Center for the Arts (Taiwan).
